It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the IEEE T&D Asia Conference and Exposition 2009 Seoul, which is jointly hosted by the KIEE and the KOEMA, and sponsored by the IEEE PES and its Seoul Chapter.
The Conference/Exposition is the 3rd in a continuing series of IEEE PES sponsored meetings to be dedicated to the presentation of new developments in the practical application of methods and technologies and the exhibition of the most advanced power apparatus and facilities in electrical power transmission and distribution. It is to take place in October 26-30, 2009 in the COEX(Convention & Exhibition Center), located at KangNam downtown, Seoul Korea.
Recently the soared-up oil price and global warming are driving rapid growth of alternative sources of energy in the world. The increasing necessity of energy saving and CO2-reduction will bring in great changes in the electric power industry and other energy industries as well. Introduction of power market and fast development in power IT provide a new environment. All these produce greater motivation impetus to technology innovation in power engineering. This conference/exposition will provide a good opportunity to exchange the most advanced theories and technologies and to observe the state of art through the exhibition of most advanced power apparatus and facilities in electrical power transmission and distribution. We are expecting that over 250 papers will be presented with 500 attendants and that over 200 companies will participate in the exposition in a huge area of 12000 square meters.
A number of panel discussions and tutorials will take place, bringing together academic and industrial experts. Social events and technical tours are also under planning now, which will provides opportunities to take special experiences in Korea.
